The filming took place in northwest Washington while the setting is in the fictional town of Twin Peaks in northeast Washington. The story centered on investigation of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, who is in charge in the investigation of the murder of a popular local teenage schoolgirl, Laura Palmer.
